Kart Setup Basics: The Five Adjustments That Matter
Tyre pressures, track width, ride height, seat position and gearing: start here before anything else.

Setup can feel overwhelming. These five adjustments make the biggest difference for beginners.
1. Tyre pressures
Changes grip and how quickly the tyres come up to temperature. Make small changes and write them down.
2. Rear track width
Wider usually means less grip at the rear; narrower means more.
3. Front track width
Affects turn-in and how the kart jacks up the inside rear wheel.
4. Ride height
Changes the centre of gravity and weight transfer.
5. Gearing
Matches the engine's power band to the track layout.
Golden rule: one change at a time, and log every change and lap time.
